There have been too many accidents because of people not thinking ahead about how they will get home after having fun on St. Patrick\u2019s Day.The statistics are scary. Every 74 minutes during the St. Patrick\u2019s Day holiday period there is an alcohol-related crash that results in a death. That\u2019s almost one death per hour. Most of the fatal accidents involved people who had been drinking heavily, with 75 percent of the fatal crashes involving a driver whose blood test showed twice the legal alcohol limit. In the past five years, 266 people died in accidents involving drunk driving during St. Patrick\u2019s Day celebrations. We don\u2019t want you to become a statistic! Please be safe and don\u2019t drive drunk.Also keep in mind that the California Highway Patrol says that they often pay \u201cspecial attention\u201d to looking out for drunk drivers on St. Patrick\u2019s Day. They warn drivers not to \u201ctest their luck.\u201d Last year, the CHP made more than 120 DUI arrests on St. Patrick\u2019s Day.If you go out on St. Patrick\u2019s Day and drink, listen to the Highway Patrol and don\u2019t take any chances. Don\u2019t risk arrest, injury, or death. If you don\u2019t have a designated driver with you, call an Uber and use our discount code, which is available to people in the Sacramento area.
