Immediately after the accident, witness Sgt. Joshua Smithee, a civilian firefighter EMT, ran to the motorcyclist while two other soldiers stopped traffic. Sgt. Smithee ensured that the patient\u2019s head, neck and back were stabilized, preventing any further injury.Sgt. Smithee stated that the victim was \u201calert and oriented and talking to us and could answer certain questions we asked to see where he was mentally. Then he would stop and pause and ask, \u2018What happened?\u2019 He\u2019d ask a question, and we would answer it. Then he would ask the same question a few minutes later.\u201dDespite his disorientation, which is common after an accident, the motorcyclist appeared to have no serious injuries.
