My name is Kate Ebert, and I am a personal injury lawyer at Demas Law Group. The reason why I like Demas Law Group is, frankly, the demand that the firm puts on us to put our clients first. That’s why I wanted to do this field of law was because I wanted to help real people. And I also like working there because of the respect we have within the legal community. When we go to a deposition, when we go into trial, we’re respected by judges, by opposing counsel, and they take us seriously. The subject of my admissions essay to law school was wanting to speak for people who didn’t have a voice. And I think it’s because it’s been in my DNA.
My dad was a lawyer, and he was in public service. My mom was in public service. And it’s just a core value to be able to help others, and I felt a law degree would be one of the most effective ways you could really change someone’s life and actually help them in a real, meaningful way. When I’m looking at a case, I try to look at it as though it was a case of a relative. I try to always think about that like if this was my mom’s case how would I want someone to handle my mom’s case I try to handle it in that way and treat my client the same way I’d want someone to treat someone who means more to me than anything. A person or a lawyer working at Demas Law Group is dedicated, they’re passionate, and they understand sacrifice. A lot of time we’re staying there late, we’re working on the weekend but it’s because we carry with us what our clients are going through and it keeps pushing us to work a little bit longer, spend a little bit more time on that file, go over a brief one more time to make sure that you’ve done the best job that can be done because you know that that person deserves it.
