Deshpal Singh and Pardeep Singh Aulakh Die In Fiery Crash

car crash

Two men were killed when the car in which they were riding hit a tree near Howe Avenue and American River Drive, ejecting them both from the vehicle. The two were identified as Deshpal Singh, 25, and Pardeep Singh Aulakh, 23. It is unclear which of the young men was driving at the time of the crash.

Police believe that the driver was speeding while traveling south on Howe Avenue when he lost control and struck a tree in the center divide. Both men were ejected from the car, which burst into flames. Both victims died at the scene of the accident.

The Importance of Accident Investigations

Accident investigations are essential any time there is a question of how an accident occurred. However, they are never more essential than when the victims do not survive to give any indication as to why or how the crash happened.

Professional accident reconstruction experts are able to use scientific methods much like those used by forensic investigators to determine what happened prior to a crash. An accident investigator might use any of the following techniques, as well as others, to glean information about a fatal accident:

  • Measure tire skid marks. Skid marks often tell a story about when a driver braked, how suddenly and how fast he or she was going at the time. A sudden, deep set of skid marks indicates the driver slammed on the brakes. This could be an indication of an obstruction in the road or a person or vehicle moving in front of the driver. On the other hand, no skid marks at all may mean that the driver had no warning of the impending crash.
  • Interview witnesses. A good accident investigator may be able to identify and interview witnesses to determine if they saw anything that could contribute knowledge to how the accident occurred. This does not only mean those who were present at the scene but someone who saw the victim some time before the accident as well. For example, if a person was at a restaurant or bar prior to the accident, it is important to know if the driver was drinking.
  • Use models to reconstruct crash probability. Professional accident reconstruction experts have access to many different methods to help them determine what happened in an accident, including computer models that calculate the various probabilities of different scenarios leading up to the accident. These computer models can be very useful in determining what may have happened if there were no witnesses and the victims did not survive.

Using Accident Reconstruction Evidence in a Personal Injury Lawsuit

When a victim files a personal injury lawsuit or a family files a wrongful death claim, it is important for the plaintiff to have as much evidence as possible about how an accident occurred. In some cases, families or victims may have believed that there was no way to collect damages until an accident reconstruction expert was able to show them the evidence of someone else’s responsibility in the crash.

If you have suffered injuries or lost a loved one due to an accident, you may be able to recover damages. However, you may also need the help of an accident reconstruction expert in order to find evidence to back up your claim. A personal injury attorney may be able to help you determine if you need the services of an accident reconstruction expert as well as assist you in locating one who can help you win your case.

The lawyer you choose to represent you in your personal injury matter will greatly affect the outcome of your case. What many people don’t realize, though, is that your relationship with your lawyer will also impact your life.
