Elderly Pedestrian Killed by Vehicle

According to recent reports, Sacramento police officers received reports of a man lying on Meadowview Road near the corner of 21st Street. When officers arrived at the scene they found that the man had already been hit by at least two vehicles and had been dragged for over one mile by the last car.

According to reports, the pedestrian was trapped beneath a Honda CRV. The driver, once they realized what had happened, stopped and remained at the scene and assisted investigators. A Sacramento police spokesman has said that that the driver has not faced any charges, and does not appear to have been driving under the influence.

When paramedics arrived on the scene, they pronounced the elderly man dead. He was later identified as 90-year-old Johnson Victor Russell by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

Sacramento police officers are still trying to determine why Russell was laying in the road at the time of the accident.
