While driving a van belonging to Tulare County, Jeremy Meyst, 31, was ejected after hitting a cement guardrail. The two inmates suffered minor injuries.

What If It Is Unclear Why An Accident Occurred?

If it is unclear why an accident occurred, an investigation usually takes place. This investigation may be performed by officials such as the California Highway Patrol, a county or city organization, or a private agency.

If there is a question about the cause of an accident, a private agency may be hired by the victim or his or her family. This is often the case when the family or the victim is unsatisfied with the results of an official investigation. Private firms employ experts in forensic science, making it easier for them to recreate what really happened in a crash and gather proof to show a judge or jury.

Can I Collect Damages Based on an Accident Reconstruction?

Showing proof of what really happened in a crash is often the first step in collecting compensation for injuries that occurred during the accident. By assigning the responsibility for the accident correctly, the victims are often able to recover money for medical bills, pain and suffering, lost wages and other costs related to the accident.

In any attempt to recover compensation, a personal injury attorney may be able to help. An attorney with experience in dealing with personal injury cases understands not only how the law surrounding these cases works but also understands how to recover compensation and benefits for victims. With the help of a personal injury attorney, a victim may be more likely to be able to collect payments for medical bills and other expenses even if the cause of the accident is unclear at the outset of the case. A personal injury attorney may hire an accident reconstruction expert specifically to clear up questions about the case and assist the victims in establishing responsibility for the crash.

The lawyer you choose to represent you in your personal injury matter will greatly affect the outcome of your case. What many people don’t realize, though, is that your relationship with your lawyer will also impact your life.
