John Demas co-represented a brother and sister who were involved in a major motor vehicle collision. Our clients were driving on highway 70 in Sutter County in a Geo Metro when an F350 pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction came across the road and collided with our clients’ vehicle. The collision demolished our clients’ vehicle and left them both with multiple severe orthopedic injuries and internal organ damage. Moreover, the sister sustained traumatic brain injury. A thorough and lengthy investigation of the collision revealed that it was caused by a tire failure on the pickup truck. We hired the best qualified experts to evaluate the cause of the accident, including the issues with the tire in question, as well as the extent and long term effects of our client’s injuries. After months of negotiations, the case settled on the third day of trial in an amount significant enough to allow our clients, now unable to work, to live comfortably and to receive the lifelong medical care that they will need. We represented a couple hundred women in a class action case against various manufacturers of silicone breast implants. Our client, Tim F., was stopped for traffic on the freeway when he was rear-ended by a Sacramento County Sheriff’s Officer. Tim was a 48 year-old man who had worked for over twenty years as a construction estimator. Prior to the collision with the Sheriff’s Officer, Tim had had four prior low back surgeries. However, his last surgery was over ten years before the subject collision. Following the collision, and an unsuccessful course of physical therapy and non-surgical treatment, Tim decided to have another back surgery to treat his injuries. Unfortunately, his back surgery did not provide the relief he was hoping for and he continued to have significant low back pain. Continue reading

Attorney John Demas represented George H. in a bicycle accident that occurred in Sacramento County. Our client was riding his bicycle through an intersection when the driver of a commercial van entered the intersection unsafely and struck him. The case was litigated aggressively. The commercial van’s insurance company claimed that our client bore some responsibility for the collision, because he was riding on the wrong side of the road and was not wearing a bicycle helmet. In addition, the case posed significant challenges because our client was homeless at the time of the collision and a long-time drug user. Continue reading
John N. Demas represented the two sisters (Rosa S. & Leticia H.) in a wrongful death case. The case arose from a motor-vehicle collision on Highway 12 in Tuolumne County. The vehicle was travelling east-bound on Highway 12 when a tractor-trailer rig, operated by an employee of Diestel Turkey Ranch, pulled out of a Diestel farm and turned right on Highway 12. We represented several clients in the nationwide diet-drug litigation known as Fen-Phen. The defendant manufacturer was American Home Products, who ultimately agreed to a multi-billion dollar settlement. We had our clients evaluated by board-certified cardiologists who prepared detailed reports that we submitted for evaluation. Because of our hard-work in preparing detailed medical records and evidence of the harm caused, many of our clients’ claims were approved at the highest-level of compensation. Continue reading

When he got to the home, Eric D. realized his jumper cables would not reach the car battery. He therefore had to physically push the car out of the garage and down the slightly sloped driveway. When Eric D. Went in the garage, he realized he had to be particularly careful because the garage was narrow. Continue reading
